4.6. Error: Scan function inaccessible after registration (Win/Mac)
Last Updated: July 2015
Applies to versions: Legacy versions of Kurzweil 3000 for Windows and Macintosh
Issue Summary:
The Scan button/function becomes inaccessible (it cannot be clicked and becomes grayed out) after activating/registering Kurzweil 3000.
Older legacy versions of Kurzweil 3000 (K3000) were sold and operated in different editions, with some features and fuctions locked down. The LearnStation edition does not have the ability to scan, OCR, or open PDF files for conversion with K3000.
If you're using an older version of K3000, check which edition you're using by clicking on Help > About Kurzweil 3000 in the menu. If the version information reads LearnStation, it means that when you activated/registered the software, it locked certain features, such as scanning.
Current versions of K3000 do not have any locked features. So if you upgrade to the latest version, you will be able to conduct scanning.
