Last Updated: July 2017
Applies to: Kurzweil 3000 (Mac/Win) and Kurzweil 1000 (Win)
Info:
On Windows computers, you can only have one instance of Kurzweil 3000 (K3000) installed on the same computer at a given time, no matter the version or edition of K3000. So if you have K3000 v13 installed and upgrade to K3000 v15, you must first uninstall K3000 v13.
On Windows computers, you can have both K3000 and Kurzweil 1000 (K1000) installed on the same computer. However, you must install the older version based on when it was released. For example, if you have K3000 version 13 and K1000 version 14, you need to install K3000 version 13 before installing K1000 version 14.
On Mac computers, you you can multiple instances of K3000 installed, as long as you rename the .app packages so they have unique names or they exist in different folders on your Mac. To avoid confusion, it is advisable to avoid doing this.
FAQ:
I have Kurzweil 3000 Version 13 for Windows already installed. Can I also install Version 14 and have access to both versions on the same Windows computer? What about different editions, e.g. Standalone and Web License?
No, you cannot. You can only have one version of Kurzweil 3000 (K3000) installed at a time on a Windows computer.
For Windows, this applies to all versions of the product, even if you have two different editions, for example Standalone and Web License. This means you cannot have K3000 v14 Web License and K3000 v14 Standalone installed on the same Windows computer.
I have Kurzweil 3000 Version 5 for Macintosh already installed. Can I also install Version 14 and have access to both versions on the same computer? What about different editions, e.g. Standalone and Web License?
Due to the self-contained nature of a Macintosh apps (.app files), it's possible to have multiple versions and/or editions of the Kurzweil 3000 app existing on your computer, as long as the Kurzweil 3000.app file name is renamed (e.g. to Kurzweil 3000 v14 Web License.app) or it exists in a separate folder. However, so as to avoid confusion and ensure application stability, we recommend only having the latest and most updated version of the Kurzweil 3000 app on your computer only.
I have Kurzweil 1000 Version 14 and Kurzweil 3000 Version 15, can I install both of them on the same computer?
Yes, as long as you install Kurzweil 1000 first, and then update it, this configuration should function. Please note that if you are working with older versions of the product, please contact us for the install order/compatibility. There is some more information about this here.
