1.18. Guide: How to open PDF files
Applies to: Kurzweil 3000, firefly (All versions)
Kurzweil and firefly can open PDF's directly. However, it is important to recognize that PDFs can come in a variety of configurations (image, text, locked). This understanding is integral when deciding how best to work with PDFs. Here is a table to help describe the features of each PDF type and its accessibility with our software.
To open a PDF in Kurzweil:
- In Kurzweil, go to File > Open.
- Navigate to your PDF file and select it.
- Click OPEN.
Your PDF will start opening in Kurzweil, it goes through a conversion process (OCR) - please wait for this to finish before attempting to read your document.
To Open a PDF in firefly:
- Login to fireflybykurzweil.com
- Navigate to your file list (HOME> Expand the username/folder you want to upload to)
- Click the UPLOAD button after selecting the public or private folder you want to upload to, covered in step 2.
- Select the PDF you would like to upload.
When you first open the file, there may be a delay until all the pages are available to read. If you receive an error that not all pages are available to display, please try again later.
