4.7. Error: Unable to Initialize Scanner
"Unable to Initialize Scanner"
Last Updated: July 2015
Applies to versions: Kurzweil 3000 for Windows
Issue Summary:
You receive the error message "Unable to Initialize Scanner" when attempting to scan in Kurzweil 3000 (K3000).
Troubleshooting Steps:
Most likely you received this message because:
a) You have the wrong scanner driver selected in K3000 for use. To change your scanner driver, within the K3000 menu, click on Scan > Sanner Setup > Select Scanner... select the TWAIN driver listed for your scanner. For example, if you're using an Epson 5590 scanner, select the Epson 5590 TWAIN driver for use. Do not select the scanner drivers noted as WIA.
b) Your scanner software or drivers are not installed properly. If this is the case, please visit your scanner manufacturer's website and search for a software/driver package for your scanner. Download and install that pacakge before attempting another scan in K3000.
c) Your scanner is not connected to your computer properly or turned on. Check your connections and indicator lights.
