1.10. Error: K3000.app cannot be opened because it's from an unidentified developer
Last Updated: July 2017
Applies to: Kurzweil 3000 Macintosh
Issue:
A user receives a security warning Kurzweil 3000.app can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer when attempting to launch a downloaded version of Kurzweil 3000 on Mac OS 10.7+.
This issue may be encountered on computers with Mac OS X 10.7 or greater.
Solution:
Mac OS X 10.7+ has a security feature called Gatekeeper, that's built into the Security and Privacy settings in System Preferences. This essentially blocks all non-Apple verified software by default. To change this follow the below steps:
- Go to Apple (your Apple icon at the top-right) > System Preferences > Security and Privacy > General Tab
- Unlock the settings if necessary (in the lower left corner there is a padlock icon)
- Under where it says Allow applications downloaded from: choose Anywhere
