2.17. Error "Data is invalid" & "Cannot open requested item"

Issue:

Kurzweil 3000 Web License client users may receive "Data is invalid" when attempting to launch Kurzweil 3000. Once this occurs, you'll receive an error stating "Cannot open the requested item" when attempting to open all .kes files.

Solution:

The user profile is corrupt and needs to be deleted/replaced. Please delete the following files:

If you are the administrator for your computer, you can use the steps below:

 

To Delete C:\Users\<winlogin>\AppData\Roaming\KESI\Kurzweil 3000\<k3000username>:

1. Use your Run command (Start > Search for Run) or use the keyboard shortcut Windows Key + R.

2. Next type below into your run box and press enter:

%appdata%\kesi\Kurzweil 3000\ 

3. Delete your username folder here.

 

To Delete K3000Versions.k3v:

1. Use your Run command (Start > Search for Run) or use the keyboard shortcut Windows Key + R

2. Next type below into your run box and press enter:

%localappdata%\KESI\Kurzweil 3000

3. Delete the K3000Versions.K3v file if present

 

Try running Kurzweil and opening files after following the above steps.
