1.3. Read the Web missing from Chrome

Last Updated: 6/23/2022

Issue:

I had the Read the Web extension installed in Chrome, and I no longer see it in the toolbar.

Solution #1:

The Read the Web extension for Chrome was recently updated which caused previous installations of the Read the Web extension to become disabled. If you already had the Read the Web extension installed in your Chrome browser, you can easily enable it again by going to the Read the Web Chrome Web Store page below, then selecting 'Enable this item' in the message at the top of the window: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/read-the-web-30/hdgegmlancchhhlkkddoiedlklgocffm

Solution #2:

When the Read the Web extension is added to Chrome, it is not initially pinned to the toolbar. To pin the Read the Web extension icon to your toolbar, click the 'Extensions' (Puzzle Piece) button, then click the 'Pin' (Pushpin) button next to the Read the Web extension.

Solution #3:

It's possible that the Read the Web extension was removed from your Chrome browser. If this happened, you can easily add it back to Chrome by going to the Read the Web Chrome Web Store page below, then selecting the 'Add to Chrome' button, then 'Add extension' button on any confirmation dialogs: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/read-the-web-30/hdgegmlancchhhlkkddoiedlklgocffm
