General Information:
Kurzweil 3000 for Mac and Windows computers
With the current version of Kurzweil 3000 or Kurzweil 10000 installed software application for either Mac and Windows, you can search online for books, magazines and other sources. This feature can be access via Online > Search for Books
Kurzweil3000.com
Within Kurzweil3000.com, you have the ability to search for and open books directly from Bookshare.org. This feature can be accessed from your Universal Library page by clicking on the Bookshare button towards the top-right.
Troubleshooting:
If you cannot login to download a book or get an error when downloading a book using your Bookshare login within the Kurzweil3000.com; please try the below workarounds for EPUB and DAISY files.
1. Search and download the book in question from Bookshare.org after logging in to Bookshare.org: https://www.bookshare.org/
2. Select the EPUB format, it should be the default choice. This will allow the file to be available for you to download. If there is not an EPUB choice, choose the DAISY "Text only" or "With images" option.
3. Once the file is available to download, an "Available" link will show for the content in question. If you cannot find this, go to your Bookshare "My History" page. Right click the "Available" Link and select "Save As" or "Save Link As" this will download the EPUB or DAISY file to your computer.
For EPUBS:
1. Login to directly to Kurzweil3000.com or follow the steps you already have to login to Kurzweil3000.com, this may be from a school portal.
2. Upload the EPUB file after selecting the folder, i.e. Private that you would like the book to be in to your library using the Upload button in the top right.
3. Your book will now be in your library list in the folder you uploaded it to. When you first open the book, there may be a delay.
For DAISY:
Daisy files download as a .zip file directly (for text only) and for "With Images" you will need to right click the available link and save as mentioned in the steps above. In addition, we need to change the .zip file extension by renaming it this before uploading the file into Kurzweil3000.com
1. First, enable your file extensions by following the below steps for Windows or Mac:

If you are using another device, i.e. a mobile device, it's best to search how to do this for that device. Suggestions: How to enable file extensions for X device. You can also search for, "How to rename a file on X device" if you need further assistance with the rename step.
2. Rename the file using a right click on Windows and a secondary click on Mac, to .bks instead of .zip.
3. Login to Kurzweil3000.com
4. Upload this renamed .bks file after selecting your folder, i.e. Private that you would like the book to be in to your library using the Upload button in the top right.
5. Your book will now be in your library list in the folder you uploaded it to. When you first open the book, there may be a delay.
