2.16. Error: File could not be deleted in Universal Library
Last Updated: March 2017
Problem:
You may receive the message file could not be deleted when attempting to delete a file from the Universal Library, either through the firefly website (kurzweil3000.com) or from the installed Kurzweil 3000 (K3000) desktop application.
Solution:
Currently if a file has a very long file name (over 130 characters), you may encounter the above issue and be unable to delete it from your Universal Library. This issue may be fixed in the future.
If you receive this message for a specific file, simply rename the file so the file name contains less than 130 characters. After the file name is shorter, you should be able to delete it.
You can use the installed K3000 desktop application to rename files in your Universal Library. To do this:
1. Open the K3000 desktop application.
2. Within K3000, click on File > Open from Library...
3. Browse to the location of the file you are unable to delete. Please note that the file must in a location you have full access to. For example, if you're a student, you wouldn't be able to rename or delete files from your teacher's public folder.
4. Right-click the file > from the context menu choose Rename.
5. In the file name field, enter a new file name that's shorter than 130 characters.
6. Click the Rename button.
