General Info:
Kurzweil 3000 for Mac and Windows computers
With the current version of Kurzweil 3000 (K3000) installed software application for either Mac and Windows, you can search online for books, magazines and other sources. This feature can be access via Online > Search for Books
Kurzweil3000.com
Within Kurzweil3000.com, you have the ability to search for and open books directly from Bookshare.org. This feature can be accessed from your Universal Library page by clicking on the Bookshare button towards the top-right.
Organizational Accounts vs. Individual Accounts
Currently the installed K3000 software application for both Mac and Windows supports both Organizational and Individual Accounts for Bookshare.org.
Currently Kurzweil3000.com only supports Individual Accounts for Bookshare.org.
Troubleshooting:
Kurzweil 3000 v13 or newer:
If you're having difficulties accessing or downloading books through Bookshare using K3000 v13 or later, make sure you download and install the latest update/patch for K3000. Patching should fix the issue.

You can also search for updates/patches within K3000 via Online > Updates...
Kurzweil 3000 v12 or older:
Due to changes in Bookshare.org's architecture and application interface, versions of K3000 older than 13 may have difficulties accessing Bookshare. In these older versions of K3000, organizational Bookshare accounts may also not have access to download books.
If you're having difficulties accessing Bookshare through an older version of K3000, we recommend upgrading to the latest version of Kurzweil 30000. Please contact your sales representative.
Kurzweil 3000 v11:
We no longer provide support for Kurzweil 3000 v11, but if you're having difficulties accessing Bookshare through the K3000 software you can try to download and install the version 11 specific Bookshare patch available here: https://www.kurzweiledu.com/news-resources/software-updates/ki-1000-version11-updates.html
This should not be considered a guaranteed fix, but it is something you can attempt. We recommended upgrading Kurzweil 3000.
Workaround Solution:
If you cannot login to download a book or get an error when downloading a book using your Bookshare login within the Kurzweil products; please try the below workaround.
Download the book from Bookshare as a DAISY file package, in .zip file format.
If using Kurzweil 3000 v14, make sure to update first.
Do not open or unzip the .zip file. Rename the file extension .zip to .bks (e.g. harrypotter.zip should be renamed to harrypotter.bks) and open the .bks in Kurzweil 3000 v14 or later.
If using Kurzweil 3000 v13 or older: Unzip the .zip file. Find the .opf file and open it directly in Kurzweil 3000.
