Adding Students and Teachers in Kurzweil 3000
1. Log into kurzweil3000.com with a teacher or coordinator account.
2. Hover over My Account
3. Select Users, your team page will open
4. Select the "Everyone" button that will appear next to "My Team"
5. This will give you three sub-tabs "Students, Teachers, Add Users":
- Students Tab: This will show students currently in the system, it's suggested to search here via the search boxes above the column headers first before adding a student as they may already be in the system.
- Teachers Tab: Same as the students tab, please check here first before attempting to add a teacher.
- Add Users Tab: This is where you add new users. To add a user, please fill out the required fields being: Last Name, First Name, Email Address and School/Org and then click the Save button. By default, it will create a student record. If you wish to create a teacher, please un-check the "Student" check-box before saving.
What is "My Team" and why is it important?
A Team is a group of users that need to interact with one another. You could think of it as a "Class", for example a Teacher's team would usually have their students that are in their class. However teams are more than classes, as teachers can be part of the same team if they wish to collaborate with one another.
Having users in the same team allows them to share data. Please note however that students will not be able to share data with each other directly; see some examples below.
Examples:
- Teachers can view and save files to student folders if those students are added to their team.
- Two teachers part of the same team would be able to share documents between them.
- Students being part of a teacher team allows them to see the teacher(s) public content and open files located there.
- Students in the same teacher team will NOT be able to see other student content.
To add someone to your team:
- Hover the cursor over the My Account tab and choose Users from the drop-down menu.
- Click the Everyone icon.
- Find the user that you want to add to your Team and click the "My Team" check-box to the right of the user information.
Are there any suggestions on how to structure my users / teams?
Before adding a new user, it's recommended to search to see if that user already exists. It's recommended that each teacher search for and add students to his or her team that the teacher wants to use Kurzweil 3000 with. This way, a teacher can distribute files and administrate these users.
Are there other ways to add users?
Option 1: If you qualify for a user import or wish to inquire about adding users in bulk please contact: kurzweil3000roster@kurzweiledu.com ; in your email please make sure to reference that you are interested in the import process. If your account qualifies you will be sent an excel template for importing users along with further instructions.
Option 2: There is also an option called "Self-Registration", please see below for details on the process:
Links to the self-registration form enable teachers and students to add themselves to the general Kurzweil 3000 roster which is accessible through the "Everyone" section. Please note that only the top-level coordinator can initiate self-registration. Self-Registration does not automatically add a student or teacher to a team. If the student or teacher needs to be part of a specific team, please assign them to one after they are in the roster.
1. Log into kurzweil3000.com with a teacher or coordinator account. Hover the cursor over the My Account tab and select Users from the drop-down menu. Your My Team page opens.
2. Click User Self-Registration. A window opens that displays a link for you to copy and send to teachers and a link for you to copy and send to students. Note: Because teachers and students have different privileges, it's important to send the correct link.
3. Click Copy next to the appropriate link (Teacher self-registration or Student self-registration).
4. Open your email application and address an email to the teachers or students you want to self-register.
5. In the message section of the email, paste the link you copied from the self-registration window.
6. Send.
