1.36. Error: 1722 during installation
Issue:
During installation of Kurzweil 3000, the following error may appear near the end of the installation causing a rollback of the install process:
"Error 1722: There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action InstallRouter, location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Kurzweil Educational Systems\Common Files\Router.exe, command: -i -
Troubleshooting:
Newer versions of Kurzweil 3000 require Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 x86 and x64 packages. As such, there are different installation procedures depending on the operating system that you're running. Please note your operating system version (Windows Control Panel > System) before continuing with the steps below.
Step #1: Download and install the appropriate version(s) of Microsoft Visual C++ 2013
1. Login to your machine as a local administrator account
2. Go to: http://support.cambiumtech.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=1843
3. Then follow below:
If you are running Windows 64-bit:
1. Choose to download both the x86 and x64 versions of Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 (#5 and #6)
2. Install the x86 version first
3. Install the x64 version second
4. Repeat the installations for both the x86 and x64 packages, this time choosing the 'Repair' option. This will allow the package to overwrite any incorrect .dll files on the machine.
If you are running Windows 32-bit:
1. Choose to download only the x86 version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 (#5)
2. Install the x86 version
3. Repeat the installation
4. Attempt to install Kurzweil 3000 v14 or v15 again
Above should resolve the issue (Make sure to not leave the repair step out)
If you for some reason continue to experience the Error 1722, continue on to the Alternate Solution for some more advanced troubleshooting.
Alternate Solution:
Manually check the system files associated with Microsoft Visual C++ 2013
1. Login to your machine and a local administrator account
If you are running Windows 64-bit:
Browse to C:\Windows\SysWOW64
If you are running Windows 32-bit:
Browse to C:\Windows\System32
2. Find the following files and verify their file sizes match the following values:
Name: mfc120.dll - Size: 4321 KB
Name: msvcp120.dll - Size: 445 KB
Name: msvcr120.dll - Size: 949 KB
3. If any of the file sizes do not match, continue below.
Replace incorrect files with proper files
1. Login to your machine as a local administrator account
If you are running Windows 8/10 (32-bit or 64-bit):
Download the 'Win8_1722_Error.zip' package here: http://support.cambiumtech.com/index.php?pg=file&from=2&id=262
If you are running Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit):
Download the 'Win7_1722_Error.zip' package here: http://support.cambiumtech.com/index.php?pg=file&from=2&id=263
2. Extract the contents of the download .zip
3. Copy and replace the 3 files noted in Step # 2 above using the extract files from the downloaded .zip.
